To test whether an individual’s hearing is affected, there are several different tests available. Some hearing tests can be conducted in primary care at the GP Surgery, others test can only be performed by an ENT or Audiologist.
Fysicon, in collaboration with various ENT Specialists have now developed key and essential software which allows a remote hearing test via the Internet. The Otosession™ software creates an additional open feed which can provide live advice from an ENT Consultant. Tele-otoscopy works in real-time; it provides diagnostic quality images and a real-time connection between the ENT Consultant and other healthcare professional. The idea is that the ENT Consultant can access this connection as he looks over the shoulder of the doctor or Audiologist that is examining the ear of any patient. In many cases, this immediately sets the scene for immediate diagnosis and speeds up the care pathway for the patient.
